The reason you brush and floss is to remove plaque, a sticky, bacteria-filled film, from your teeth. Plaque can harden into tartar, a substance that causes cavities and gum disease. If it does, there is only one way to remove it: with dental cleanings in Chattanooga, TN.Doctor Erin Eudaly on dental cleanings Read Transcript
It's important to see patients regularly so that we can ward off things that when we start seeing the early warning signs of gingivitis, which is inflamed gums, or if we start to see even bone deterioration, we want to catch all of those things at early stages so that we can get it treated and you can have the best results afterwards. So, regular cleanings allows us to check for things. It allows us to look at the teeth and see if we're seeing anything as far as cavities go, but also checking to see if we see signs that maybe you have the early signs of diabetes that are first showing in the mouth. Or we're seeing that you have signs of high blood pressure.
We've had patients that things have just changed really quickly, and we're able to say, like, Hey, go see your primary care doctor. Then when they go, they find out that they have some blockages or weird things that we were able to see first in the mouth. So, I think it's important for the overall body.
Gum health is important because it's just the gateway to the rest of the body. When we have inflammation there, and we have bacteria just living in the gums, then that's going into your bloodstream and causing inflammation other places. So, having regular cleanings allows us to get that taken care of, and get a patient in the very best health overall.
